Casa Dupont Las Américas
Varadero, as a beach resort is the work of Irénée Dupont de Nemours, the American multimillionaire. He came to settle in his residence here in the thirties, in the middle of unexploited and wild scenery that offered this peninsula at that time. He built in half of these lands in order to attract the investors and materialize this way his visionary plan for the most beautiful beach of the Caribbean region. His residence, the Mansión Xanadú, remains intact and welcomes the traveler, who can spend the night (5 rooms) but mostly eat in a neoclassical Spanish-Andalusian-American atmosphere: in good taste, over-ornate... the Cuban style. Who could ignore the magnificent view from the terrace on the rock side, next to the beach and the wonderful cuisine of the Casa Dupont Restaurant? It can accommodate 160 guests. The best choice should be a good meat dish (not frequent in Cuba). It is the antithesis of the beach resort. It's a cultural exile that contrasts with the "All Included" hotels in Varadero.
